During the past 2 years I had to play 1 time in a tornmentgame and 16 times in blitzgames against the ugly move 2c6?. I won 12 and lost 5 of them. This is the most recently (10') game. May be. I just took a look at the given webpage. There seems to be a flaw on the cover. A pawn on e5 and one on e7. Well okay, perhaps Everyman just shuffles the pawns on their books. I own a copy of Nigel Davies' "starting out: the modern". And there Black on the cover misses a pawn on - e7. Wink Getting bored of 1.e4, too straightforward and plain. - Chess

Generalizing all positions from a certain first move tends to not be a great idea. and there is also the Cyrus Lakdawala book, First Steps: The Colle and London System. . but it might be worthwhile to experiment with alternatives to 3 d4 after 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 Nc6. I have come across this sooooo many times as Black. My ranking rovers around 1000 so I am no superstar. I almost find the tactic wildly disrespectful to the game. Once I discovered that 2.
